Knowing what products to use can be difficult to understand . Proper instullation should be left to a true professional baby proofer . Not someone that looks like they can do everything is necessarily the best choice . I place my pics on this site so you can evaluate my work and knowledge . What is wrong with this gate ?
For starters its the wrong gate . Compression gates are never to be used at the top of stairs . To compound the problem it is also set out from the step about 4 inches . I checked this baby gate it was also easy to dislodge .
Read the warning label . Its right there never use at top of stair !
Molding made for gate . Pretty unsightly . Wrong kind of wood . Wrong type straps . Made to use with improper child safety gate .
This area would have been ok for a compression gate . Heres the problem it is set up off the floor and away from the step as well . This creates a bad tripping hazard .
Here again the wrong baby gate choice . Wrong straps used on bannister side molding . Wood block siliconed on to wall and bottom of gate siliconed to floor , Next to it is some of the damage it caused . Wood for molding wasn't sanded or finished as well .
Many people choose compression gates because they don't want holes in their walls . Look what damage they can cause . 2 screw holes would have been easier to repair .
These gates were all installed by either handyman or remodeler or homeowner

Same Area after I took down other gate and moldings . Replacing with my moldings and proper baby gate .
This is the damage the block siliconed to the wall left for the owner after the gate was taken down and repalced.
Think Twice before making a decision all decisions are important .
